This is a question that we often get asked when people are considering buying an ebike.
The battery life of a battery for an electric bike is calculated in charge cycles. This is the number of full charges before the effectiveness of the battery reduces which will continue until they fail completely.
There are different types of batteries used in ebikes, each type of electric bike battery. Moor EBikes ebikes and emopeds all use lithium batteries and in general, it is said, that these hold up the most charge out of all the battery types (although this also depends on the quality of the battery build). Lithium batteries can last up to 1000 charge cycles.
In general, our electric bicycles hold an individual charge capable of taking you at least 30 miles. Some of our e-bikes have a regenerative motor and it is claimed that this allows the battery to run up to 99 miles without the need for a recharge, we are waiting to test this claim ourselves!
If looked after correctly, you should be able to get many hundreds of charges from your ebike battery but this also depends on the type of battery that is fitted to your e-bike. It is also important to take good care of your battery after you have purchased your electric bike as this will also affect the efficacy of your battery.
How to take care of your EBike Battery
Storage
· Always keep your battery in a cool/dry place (preferably between 0 and 20 ºc
· Do not leave the battery to close to a heat source and avoid raised temperatures.
Cleaning

· Do not use a steam pressure washer to clean your electric bike or battery
· Never immerse the battery in water, just use a damp cloth to wipe off any dirt.
Charging
· Always use the charger and adapter supplied with your battery. It will avoid overcharging and will protect the battery whilst charging.
· Let the ebike battery cool before charging it. Also do not use your electric bike battery directly after you have re-charged it.
· Never drain the ebike battery completely
· Charge the e-bike battery to 100% when charging.
· Ensure you partially charge your electric bike battery If your ebike isn’t being used for long periods of time. If your bike battery remains discharged for a duration this can cause irreparable damage to the battery.
